That's not true actually, field spaniels DO get the white chest quite often - mine has a bit of white on his chest, and his half brother has a lot. Very common and not a flaw either.

Also, field spaniels should not be heavy, although some are, it's not said that they will be, especially at a young age like that one.

I'd say Sprocker too, doesn't look like a Field Spaniel to me.

i dont know much about field spaniels so not sure if he looks like one, never met one just seen pics

but i think he does look like either a working cocker or a springer x cocker. he looks very like the springer x cocker that my bf had, although his was heavier built but as yours is so young its difficult to know how he will be when fully grown. but a ESSxCocker gets my vote lol

This is a Field spaniel that takes part in quite a few Minor breed Trials

You will never really know for sure, although I would say some cocker got in on the act somewhere along the line.

Looks a cutie whoever his parents were :)

    Definitely NOT a field spaniel.

Also, not much like a working cocker too as the ears aren't quite right (usually a lot bigger, longer and lower set unless I'm mistaken).

I would therefore say he is a springer crossed with a cocker. Not a sprocker!! Come on people!! ;o)

What difference does it make?!? It's just short hand - much sorter and easier to say.
    I suppose I could call him a 'Cockspring'? ;)

Thanks btw, I knew his ears looked more working than show but that was as far as my inexperienced eye got!
He's great, whatever he is. Best thing that's happened to me for years! :D

I do dislike the mix of names generally, but for some reason I've always found it acceptable in the sprocker. Perhaps because my first introduction to the cross was with working dogs and there was no pretention about the name, it wasn't a marketing gimmick and no-one was pretending they were something they were not; it was just a damn site easier to say sprocker than springer x cocker.
