Not to be confused with the Parson Russell Terrier, the Jack Russell Terrier is quite different in size and shape.

The FCI Breed Standard URL (Click Here) was developed by Australia, although the breed originates in England. Ironically [sic] the UK Kennel Club is one of the last remaining national kennel clubs who are stubbornly refusing to accept that the JRT is a distinct and seperate breed to the PRT...

However, if a 'papered' JRT is your wish, it *is* possible to locate one on the British Isles. The JRT is a relatively new, but flourishing breed within the Irish Kennel Club, and the first Green Stars were awarded this year for pedigree JRTs coming up through the interim registration ranks. JRTs in NKC's across the world are fully entitled to earn CACIB's and the FCI have also endorsed a working trial title for them

The JRT does share its origins with the PRT, through the Reverend John Russell, and in later years with intervention by Arthur Heineman. It appears that in different parts of the country different aspects of the 'Russell' terrier were more desirable for working (height, spannability etc), and it is thought that this is how one type of very recognisable terrier split into two seperate types.
