Newborn Pomeranian Help - Existing Breeders

    Hi Everyone,

My 5 year old pomeranian Bella just had her first litter and it is 1 single male puppy. Unfortunately she somehow dislocated her hip and today will be getting surgery. The newborn puppy is very small he only weighed 1.97 oz yesterday when he was born. What reccommendations do you have and have any of you had a small puppy like this survive and thrive? We are hand feeding and keeping him warm with a lamp and also heating pad. He did nurse a little yesterday from mom but as she is having surgery we will need to take over the reigns. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also my email address is [removed] if it is easier to communicate that way.

Poor girl, did she have a fall? As she is a new mother, the vet is likely to have used an anaesthetic and pain meds which will be OK for a nursing bitch. I hope the little one will be safely latched on again soon - at this age there is really nothing as good as his mother's milk, and he will only be needing tiny quantities for now.
    Best wishes.
