Can anyone help my newfie has got sores on his chest keep having to get antibiotics from vet anyone else have this problem?
Has the vet not given you a diagnosis? 'Sores' is a pretty general term, but if they are recurring, perhaps your vet could take a swab or do a skin scrape. A lab report could tell you which pathogen was causing it.
thanks for your reply after 3 lots of antibiotics they took a skin scrape said it may be a yeast infection they have now done a swab to send to lab just wondered if it is common in Newfoundland breed
Hi I'm new to the forum today needed a little help for my 2 year old newfie Dexter been reading posts, very interesting look forward to reading more
OK Veronica, I see. Not the same breed but my girl was a bit yeasty last year, (saliva, lip folds and one ear). (Just checked and it was October 2019!) Our vet gave her a long-acting injection - sorry, can't remember what - and a two week course of Fluconazole capsules to start the following week. It worked really well.
