    Well I have to admit since brena my opinion of dachshund intelligence has changed completely! I don't know if all doxies are the same, but little brena can figure things out on her own brilliantly. im not talking strict obedience, but basic problem solving and determination. we switched feeding her from the kitchen to inside her crate so she wouldn't interfere with the other dogs, and now she heads over to the crate immediately when we say food time! slowly but surely she is getting better at paying attention to me when we walk outside. and she will let us know directly if she needs to go out and pee or poop. she didn't do any of this when she was younger, so she is picking it up from chuk and katie (and me and karren) very quickly.

    She's beautiful! I do have a soft spot for Doxie's. Hopefully I'll own one one day :) What is her colouring known as? Don't think I've ever seen a grey/tan one before. Very striking.

    Susan called it grey and tan, our vet dr. halsey calls it blue and tan. she has grey/blue eyes. at 5 months she is dark grey, i don't know if her color will change as she gets older.

    I just love seeing all the pictures of Brena - she is such a gorgeous little dog.

    Good wishes for a speedy recovery from her spay on April 2 - it is such a routine procedure nowadays I am sure everything will go smoothly and she'll recover quickly.

    thanks. i can't help but be a bit concerned. the clinic also spayed katie and neutered chuk, so i am thinking good thoughts that everything will go well for brena as well.

    speaking of fur, i wonder what sort of brush we should get for her since her fur is very short? we used to have a soft rubber brush that we used on our ferret bandit, but i can't seem to find it.

    thanks. she is such a small dog i hope her size and length won't cause any problems. they've probably done dachshunds before i hope.

    katie is the larger golden dog in the previous picture. they were resting together on karren's lap. i can't believe katie is going to be 5 years old july 4th 2014. sigh...i don't want her to get any older. brena is becoming a great dog in no small part thanks to katie, who has taught her more than any human ever could.
