Bertie is our third pug. My nanna bought Sam the first pug in the late 60's, which is how my mum ended up loving them. We then had Samson when Sam went to Rainbow Bridge but he developed Epilepsy and back in the early 80's there was no treatment available so he went to live with Sam at the Bridge. Fast forward to 1998 and we were badgering our parents for a dog. Dad looked on the Kennel Club for breeders and that is how we got Bertie. He was 9 months old when we got him from Dawn Andow. He is now 12 years old, has lost a few teeth, hurt his back twice from jumping off the furniture but is otherwise fit and healthy.

Oh yes he does fart and snore alot!!

    hey,
i have murphy who is 16 months old now, he's not a pure pug.
his mummy was a pure pug and his dad was a half pug half shih tzu.
he is one of the family, ive never had a dog before, so i did alot of reading about them etc etc...

we bought him at 14 weeks old (which aparently is old as most people buy at 8 weeks+) but with him being that smidge older, he was toilet trained really quickly.

he didnt whine at night, a little bit the first night but that was it.

he loves exercise so dont let people tell you pugs are lazy as theyre not, we go for long walks daily but at the same time he is also a little lap dog.

he follows me everywhere, if im watching tv he's asleep next to me.
if im in the bath he's out side the door waiting for me... you get the picture lol..

he's great with my son who's now 4, they are like best buds.

i cant fault him really. i know he's not a pure pug but he has a pug body and colouring, thankfully his face isnt as squished.. i say thankfully not as theres anything wrong with having a squished face but because back in august last year we were playing by the lake, and another bigger dog wacked his face (not hard but a wack) and it knocked his eye ball out of the socket..

thankfully i got to the vets within 10 mins of it happening and the vet managed to save his eye, he said he was lucky as his eye socket wasnt the same as a pure pug or he might not have been so lucky.

after murphy had his accident i looked into it and found it was a common problem.

and he snores louder than me sometimes lol... but other than that cant fault the pug- pug crosses... fab pets xx

heres murphy when we got him and now...

aww got to say i do love pugs as well, theres one in my training class and she FLIES in mini agility!!! she is hilarious!!
however i have a friend whos dream dog is a pug, she also has a rescue dog who is brilliant and playful with all dogs, but he has real issues with squishy faces and becomes very reactive round them.she has tried introducing them but he wont have any of it.
dont know if the cresteds have been round squishy faced dogs before but i now know of a few friends whose dogs have issues with squishy faces. if not maybe you can start socialising now? if they have i shall butt out and stop interfering!!
please post lots of pics when you do get said pug they are just ace!!

Hi, We've got a Pug puppy, he 's 13wks old now and he's called Max, I have to say he was my OH's choice as I chose Scooby whose a 15mth old Bichon and was a little concerned to say the least whether they would get on, but I needn't have worried on that score as they get along great. In fact i think Scooby feels he is Max's mother lol. Like others have said the pug runs rings around Scooby and i thought he was hyper, and I have grown to love him, he is such a character.
