Questionable quality of pups advertised; how sad.

Really quite depressing, to the point I just sat and was speechless! Ronnie's breeder mentioned when I was on the phone to her that she had heard rumours that a dog bred by her was advertised online, and it'd be easy to spot as was a missmark n had a very distinct markings, and asked me to have a browse if I didn't mind as she has no access atm, so yes of course.
I checked the usual sites, didn't find the dog advertised thankfully, but the amount of litters of poms..that aren't poms! Pups that are the size of Ronnie now, pictures of parents advertised that look nothing like a pom and more like a very bad cross of a mittel spitz, and pups which are so distinctly NOT poms yet owners will buy as, and then these inferior genes get passed on, about a world away from a pom as you could get..some are even advertised as shorthaired poms!
Had to ring one advert as was just dumbfound "Mixed litter of poms, including teacup, standard and large size pups from a small and large parent" I rang and was told the mother was a large shorter haired type and dad was a "teddybear?", I saidI had a pom and there's no such thing as anything..explained the breed standard too this cretin about size, coat etc, and she told ME i was a fool and that as a breeder she should know! Now when we got Ronnie, I'd toyed with the idea of a pom and knew of litters but was taken to his breeder by a friend who knew that she had a pup that was suitable for me, and the ideal colour! etc so I never really...suffered the fools of the breed? But jesus christ! Some of the animals advertised, i can't imagine what they are even crossed with or anything! But poor people, I've known one or two get pups locally due to liking Ronnie..the dogs are turning out nothing like a pom ever. Sad, and I know it happens in a lot of breeds but it really shocked me as I found a genuine breeder who is just spitz type mad as motivation, and just..yeah dumbfounded :?

That's so sad :-( And then those poor pups go out into the world with god knows what health issues from poor breeding, it's atrocious. The breeders should be ashamed!

I hate the thing with sizes too, it drives me mad! It's a toy breed for gods sake, it's already small so why the need for 'teacup' dogs? No doubt so they'll fit more readily into some girl's overpriced hand bag :x

It's just sad..the fact there is little if any consideration into the quality of the dogs bred is what really gets to me, anything with a curly tail n a bitta fluff passes as a pom. Some have floppy ears, or hardly any coat, or are huge, or look more like shelties..the last is endless. It's just really sad as there will be, and is, loads of owners buying them and not knowing what their getting. I see rescue figures getting higher in months/years to come too.

    It's sad isn't it,
Don't need to tell you about the amount of Staffords been bred at the moment, the majority advertised online are blue

Little consideration to the quality of the dogs as long as it's blue
Most ads boast about the number of Champions within the pedigree, yet not one of these blue dogs have been shown, then they say how they conform to the standard,by looking at the pics and sometimes descriptions it's easy to spot they don't conform to the breed standard, light eyes, untidy ears, grey noses the list continues but as long as it's blue it will do

Yes :( and yet there are some people on here who say "why breed to a standard" - if people did and did it responsibly with health testing - these types of adverts wouldn't exist :(

Only recently, someone stole images of my girl to use for advertising their BY unhealth tested offspring - thankfully someone spotted it - but wonder how often it does happen and goes un-noticed :(

Sal as you may know we had staffords for a lot of years, a lot of family friends are still heavily involved and with breed rescue so i always have a nose..some of the pups now  Erm yes, quality has gone out the window. And i agree Swarthy, with poms it's common to use photos of puppymill masked sites from the U.S of puppies in pretty set ups, when really they look nothing liek that. Very sad how such lovely and innocent creatures are manipulated so much for monetry gain :(
