I used to have a Hungarian Visla many many moons ago. They are very special dogs, she could be a bit of a princess at times but also would like to flush out a pheasant or two. Storm looks really luvly, brings back happy memories for me.....
Some lovely pictures and videos. A breed I like - how is Storm coming on ? One of the guys from a IWH group I meet up with has a Viszla which Willow loves to play with.
Yay - I met a Vizsla this morning! I had gone to the big store at the Pension and was my way out when I saw this gorgeous dog. He was a lot bigger than I thought they were but he was so friendly - especially as my mini monster was off her leash so the difference in size was obvious. But he wanted a cuddle from me, bend down for a little snog from Tikva - and he was so gentle with her. Aaaahhhhh
Its nice to see Storm with a whole tail and not a docked tail... My old dog had a third docking, I think this was inline with KC conformity at the time as she was registered.. I understand why the tail should be docked if your woofer is an out and out hunting dog, the endy bit can get easily damaged and is difficult to heal etc. Having said that Storms tail looks wonderful and very elegant, he also looks a very handsome dog....I'm sure Lilly, my old Visla, would have loved him. I sometimes think the docking of tails is a bit too widespread, if the dog is just a pet romping in the park, what is the point of it.... Having said that Lilly used to love to hunt, crashing through hedges, jumping over fences to find and point at the game. Always looking and watching to see if I have noticed her majestic antics.... "look its here dad"....Pointing as stiff as a board and glancing to see if I have noticed...and such a soft mouth.. Tootsy my new Cross woofer is still an out and out hunting dog but her methods of pointing out the game is a LOT more crash bang wallop....effective, in that she finds a lot of game, but you tend to see the game running off into the distance.....with Tootsy running in hot pursuit.......and having to wait 10 minutes for her to return... The only prob we had with our Visla was that she hated certain music and would howl her head off if she heard something sad.....and wouldn't stop.. lol But Villa's are wonderful dogs with heaps of character and very unique...
