Terriers and mice - would you?

If someone you know has a mouse problem would you bring your terrier around to help them combat it ??

No and I have a terrier. :) Why do you ask? Is this what someone is doing? or just curiosity?

I could but my terrier has rats as her best pals so can't imagine she'd fancy killing mice!

I think Jinty would ask the mice if they fancied throwing a ball for her or playing tug.

Unfortunately you appear not to have knowledge of the hunting with dogs act. I will say again, it is ILLEGAL to use dogs to kill Mice.

Yes! cats are not classed the same as dogs, so a pack of moggs instead of dogs would be good! :002:

Rats are not Mice, the thread is about Mice. Wouldnt worry about enforcing the Mouse bit, they dont enforce any of it! :002:

We cant use them to kill Squirrels either (greys of course) we must shoot them for the dogs to retrieve. ;)

The Hunting Act 2004, which came into force on 18 February 2005, forbids the hunting of wild mammals with dogs. You may still flush out a fox (or deer) using dogs – or hounds - if you then shoot it, and at present you may flush a fox using hounds so that it can be caught by a bird of prey. There are also two further notable exemptions. You may hunt and kill rabbits with dogs or hounds (but not hares) and you may hunt and kill rats (but not mice).

My terriers rubbish at it  I had some mice in my outhouse/back yard last winter and Poppy n Kiara totally ignored them - Bailey however is an excellent mouse catcher suprisingly as he's blind !! He managed to find, flush and gobble up a couple  In fact I couldn't believe what I'd seen the first time so I sat and watched for ages til he did it again just be sure!!!

Well I've broken the law multiple times then since Rupert's killed god knows how many. I have to say I'd much rather let him catch and kill them than put down poison or those awful glue traps! At least he kills them quickly!

Sadly Jimmi hasn't read the legal niceties - to him mice are just small rats:-( I happen to like both mice and rats.
