    Tikva the guard dog

Tikki is currently guarding the end of yesterday mornings little chew. She has one every morning after she has surfaced, been out and done a p&p, while I get washed and dressed. By the time she has finished her little chew I have finished my ablutions.

But yesterday she left the end of it although she still expected [and got] a fresh one, which she chombled through as usual. And she is guarding the small piece left over from yesterday, either by sitting next to it on the couch or holding it in her mouth.

She has put it down so she can go outside, but how did she know I had reached for my picker-upper to remove it? The little booga shot back, grabbed it, put it back on the couch and "hid" it under the folded blankie!

I have said it before and will say it again. Tikva is a strange little one at times, with a mind of her own. No lap dog is she, although she is a right little cuddle pup when she wants to be.

Funny little girl with such an expressive face. :049:

Tikka and Chico have been cut from the same cloth! He guards little bits of food, stuffing them under cushions and so on. And he has the added joy that he can snarl obscenities at Pepe every time he comes near. We have the ridiculous situation where a 60lb dog is scared to enter the room because a 5lb dog says so.

Tikva would not hide any food - food is for eating asap! And she normally chombles the chew until it is gone, as she did with the one she had this morning while guarding this small piece from yesterday.

She has also picked up half of an emery board which I thought I had put in a small rubbish bin but had obviously missed it, and now that is on the couch with her, and every time I turn to look at her I get the stink eye!.

I have absolutely no idea why. :102:

Ah, that's where they're different then. Chico has no interest in food whatsoever, and only eats it to prevent Pepe having it. I think if Chico was an only dog, I'd have problems getting him to eat at all! I did worry about his lack of appetite to begin with, particularly as Chihuahuas are prone to hypoglycemia, but I'm quite relaxed about it now and let him eat when he wants. He's very lean and muscular.

Tikki hoovered up her evening meal an hour ago - the "soup" [her vitamins and supplements mixed in hot water], a handful of defrosted frozen mixed vegetables, and a half of a large raw turkey gizzard which I cut up with a pair of scissors.. And while she was waiting she was getting more and more excited, dancing around on her hind legs doing twirlies! By the time I had finished washing the scissors and the spoon I use to mix everything with, and then my hands, she had finished it! :005:

This morning she had a large chunk of frozen raw turkey neck - crunch, crunch, crunch!

She really loves her food but she is like Chico, lean and muscular, although just over twice his weight..
Well I finally managed to get the piece of the chewstick [and the emery board] when I told her to go out for a pee. When she came in she flew up onto the couch and looked for it, sniffing everywhere and then got down tracking all over the salon, trying to get under the couch and looking at me very suspiciously! :D
