what are dalmatians like? does anyone have some pics?!

we are seriously considering one after we get our GSD, so in about 2/3years, i know its ages away......but its nice to look now!

i have a calender and ones staring at me everyday so gorgeous!

wheres the best place to find a breeder for one and what health checks to look for? i know about the bear (spelling) testing for the ears, anything else?

    thanks!

A friend of mine does agility with her Dalmations, if you try the link below and look for the videos marked up for 'Nugget' , i think there are three, you'll see him in action, youd have to right click on the pic then open link at the top

    Hello !!
I see you havnt got too much of a reply :-(
DalmatiAns are a very active breed, they are bred as coaching dogs and as such are capable of great endurance. They are Very much human dogs, they love contact and dont do well if left alone.
Full black ears are often patches, which thou undesirable for breeding are fine for pets :)
There are LOts of club members websites on the "Dalmatian Telegraph" website (if you google it) Then you can see the great range and variety available.
Your best bet would be to contact the club and they can arrange a local rep to visit you with their dogs !!! Give advice, and answer any questions too :)
Then from there with any questions answered you woudl be better equipt to search for a good breader for yourself too :)
    Hope that helps a bit

I wrote a really long post and then decided it was pants.

    Dalmatians are active
    Don't underestimate them
Socialise them well to ALL different situations
Positive training works best as they can be sulky and sensitive
    They can be food thieves!

Healthwise, they can suffer skin complaints, urinary stones and sensitive tummies but some never have a problem.

They shed like you wouldn't believe (I have to hoover at least once a day every day), and can be destructive when left alone as they can become easily bored (however, both of mine are not destructive, they do attention seek but only when I'm there, they just sleep while I'm out - I've watched through the window!)

All in all fab dogs with a few faults which can put your relationship under strain but you will always love them!

You know where I am if you ever want to talk dals - I'm always happy to do that!

Oh and if you get one, everywhere you go you'll be asked where the other 100 are!!

I constantly get 'where's the other 99?' but 'oh I can't walk them all at the same time' usually shuts them up!!
