    What to look for?

I have finally sorted out my NI's behaviour so im back looking for a staffy pup again, but im slightly confused on what i should be looking for. I have found that because staff's are everywhere the people who have them arn't actually breeders and just have the odd litter so they seem to be mixed with other dogs as they all look different.
I know about picking a pup (any pup) but i dont want a staff crossed with anything or that has any problems as i saw a thread about piggy eyes and i've never really thought about it before now. Oh i have also been round all my rescue centre's hunting for the perfect dog n as i need 1 that gets on with cats, kids and dogs its like looking for a needle in a haystack!
Could someone just point me in the right direction on what to look for please.
Im sorry if i sound a bit daft but i want to get everything right when picking a pup.

Look for someone who breeds for and is successful in the show ring - the parents should then be well bred, social, health tested and the breeder know what they are talking about.

    Contact the Staffie breed clubs...

I suppose it really depends what you want. When i was looking for a litter i wanted all the social things right, e.g. mother and father available to be seen and litter brought up in the home and socialisation to be going on right from the word go.

I also didn't want a very squat staff as i prefer the more athletic type and am interested in doing training and agility rahter than showing. I also prefer less squashed face too and wasn't bothered about getting a KC reg dog.

I suppose it is personal preference, and maybe i am more unusual to not want the things that most people would be looking for - if you see what i mean.

I wasn't interested in breeding or showing so having a pup from dogs who had been succesful in the show ring wasn't important to me.

I understand that a lot of people might think then that Tonks is a mongrel or staffy x as she is not to KC standards but for me it was more about the social unbrining of the pup and temperament of the parents.

Hopefully you will be able to get all of this, and the KC standard looks if you find the right breeder. Dogs Today magazing have lists of breeders and they catagarize them into ethical breeders, and outstanding breeders etc, that might be of help to you.

Can't wait to see pics and hear all about your new addition!
