hi all i am looking to get a whippet at the end of the year and i need to learn more things about them i will be looking for a show one and the dog will also be used for agility as well as being a very spoilt puppy any help will be great thanks roxie
Great choice We have a whippet - they are much more naughty than you think they will be - stealing food, noses fits into pockets and steal treats, rearange anything they can if they left in the living room....... then they hear you coming and go lie in a bed as if they've been asleep the whole time, all sweet and inocent and will even yawn to add to the effect. He loves being on the sofa with you, ours is like a bendy toy you put him on the sofa and he will just stay in the same possition and the same when you get up he'll just flop back down and won't move Can be very cheeky with other dogs and holds his own until he's put in his place. Very expressive ears which are quite cute. Loves tennis balls, food and running around on the moors. Can be quite excitable. Can pull on the lead much more than you think but he was trained to walk/trot infront by his last owner so he'd move well in the show ring. I can't speak for all whippets but this is what ours is like. Sophie
got a whippet/ italian greyhound cross delightful dog, their noses are ideal for burrowing under duvets
must admit i didnt really notice whippets, but the more i meet the more i seem to like them. whippet owners we need pictures please
A whippet would be great at agiltiy but they can be a bit stubborn and you need to be persistant with their training. Some one is tryng to get me todo agility with one of my bitches as she jumps baby gates for fun. Some of my lot and the twins Amber the smaller one is the jumper.
Just had our first whippet puppy .Having previously owned retired elderly greyhounds it's a bit of a culture shock For a little dog they have bags of character.Only had 'Dave' for three weeks but he is now definatley part of the family and wouldn't be without him
