Why are Samoyeds in the Pastoral Group in the UK

just curious. In Canada and the US they are considered working dogs, as they were bred as an allround, versitile breed. Fantastic sled and draught dogs, guard dogs, herding dogs and companion dogs... I thought it very odd to see a Sam in the ring with herding breeds.

Dont mind my ignorance... but I thought they belonged with Huskies and Malamutes?

Funny, everything I've read so far (and I've been googling) says that they were used equally for sled/draught, herding, companion, guarding. No one job more important than the other. a great all-round breed.

    Hmmn, I'm very curious now
