Hello, I have a 14wk old Pomeranian named Polo. I am pretty knowledgeable about the breed but i wanted to talk to others that are too. My question is would you consider Polo's color to be wolf sable? I believe it is but wanted others opinions. I have Polo on a few social media sites like Vine & Instagram and i get a lot of people that ask me what "kind" of Pomeranian he is or if he's mixed as they have never seen one his color. I have attached pictures. He has the sable/grayish undercoat with the black and also has a white strip down the front of his chest.
A beautiful puppy. I would describe him as a wolf sable, but I have no experience of poms at all. How did his breeder describe him?
He was classified as a wolf sable by the breeder. BUT with experience some poms can kind of look like a wolf sable as a puppy, but then grow up to be all sable. I know a ton about the breed but i have to say I'm a little stumped lol. I've even emailed other breeders and asked their opinion, a lot didn't reply back, but one breeder who shows AKC Poms said by looking at the pictures he looks like a mismarked wolf sable and said that his colors aren't rare but hard to come by.
What a lovely looking Pom It's possible that his colour will change as he grows - take loads of photos so you can track the change over time
I have absolutely no knowledge of Poms and their colours, but I do know that your little one is absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks! I take tons of pictures and videos of him. He's 14 weeks old right now and his colour hasn't changed much since i first got him. I know with my Pom that i had before him he was a Parti Pom and his colour/markings changed so much that by the time he was 1 years old he didn't even look like the same dog lol! Regardless what colour he is i just love the little guy with all my heart!
It will be interesting to see how he changes as he grows. My Chihuahua was a red sable as a puppy, but now, at seven months, he's just red!
Yea I'm anxious to see what he looks like as an adult. But i hope it goes by slow. My husband got me a English Cream Golden Retriever puppy for my birthday last year (Dec 26th) i was tickled. But he grew up so fast and is 10 months old already! I love it when they are puppies. I also have a older Golden Retriever he will be 6 in a few months & then i have a Maine Coon cat who just turned 2 this month. Ive attached pictures first one is Buddy my 10 month old English Golden Second pic is Tucker my older Golden Third pic is my Maine Coon cat Callie
A Pom and a Maine Coon in the same house, be careful your cat don't eat the dog in a few months lol. They all look great.
