Thanks wolfie, I think all the BSDs are great looking dogs too.

I previously had a long haired GSD, and that was a very loving dog, but only within the family, so its great that Abby is friendly to all other dogs and people

It was exceptionally sad - I still cry now when I read it! I still have the book you see :) I have lots of dog stories from when I was a child and I love reading them periodically, even now.

If you enjoyed Jack, you may well enjoy the book "Moobli" written by Mike Tomkies. It is however non-fiction and you have to have the tissues ready for the end!!! I weep buckets!

My favs are the Gronendael and the Terveuren. Stunning dogs. I may well even have one in the future - if I have room with all the longcoat GSDs and collies I will have running around the place lol!!

Are they not a very protective breed then Ray? I would love to know more about their temperament.

I think plenty of socialization at an early age is the way to go. Protective? Well, Abby barks at strange noises, and things that are out of place, like the window cleaner appearing at the window, etc, so I suppose there is a guarding instinct there as well. However, I know the breeder did get a dog back from the previous litter, because he was anti social, (Although I saw him when we went to see Abby at 5 weeks) The dog was 9 months old then, but seemed OK to me, just a bit shy. Really, I think its the luck of the draw. In any breed I think you can get puppies, even in the same litter, but with widely varying temperaments.

Shaan, my long haired GSD is friendly with anyone, in or out of the family. Even more so if someone's got a treat for him

Storm on the other hand is like your long haired. Loved everyone in the family but was very wary of anyone else.

    I have 3 BC's and 1 WSD.

Yes, Teagan was registered with the ISDS by her breeder and I registered her with the KC on the breed register, so she is a BC.
