This is Sonny, and English Setter that ended up in rescue. He is not socialized and has lived his whole life outdoors. We have only had him for a week, but he is making some slow progress and get better each day with his timidness and leash walking
Welcome to the forum Debbie. Sonny is a very handsome young man and I'm sure it won't be long before he learns the delights of the great indoors!
Thank you, Since this is the first Setter I have owned, I am hoping to find other Setter owners to chat with.
He is so beautiful I now want an English setter! He certainly seems to have made himself at home, and I am sure he'll soon grow in confidence.
Yes, seems a lot of my friends now want one after seeing Sonny, they are a beautiful breed. Sonny is a "Project" getting an 8 yr old dog adjusted to indoor life is not an easy task. He requires a lot of understanding and patience, but he is a real sweet heart
I am sure many people would hesitate to take on an eight year old unsocialized dog - I am so glad you have given him a chance. All the ones I have met have had lovely natures, and I'm sure he'll respond well to your understanding and patience.
and Tweed too. Welcome Debbie. Gundogs were bred to be adaptable - it may take a little time, but I'm sure he will bond, and reward you with love. Best wishes to you and your special boy.[/w]
I hope so Janet, I just love him to pieces timidness and all. It would be great if I could bring him out of his shell, but I will take whatever he wants to give. He is special and deserves to be loved for who he is
Thank you, I have never adopted an older dog (age before, I hope he is still able to come out of his shell at this later stage in his life.
